It’s safe to say we could all use a night off from cooking every once in a while! In fact, there could not be a better time to support local businesses by ordering takeout. However, ordering out does not need to mean compromising your commitment to healthy living.

We’ve made your dining choices that much easier by compiling a list of our favorite go-to spots around town as well as suggesting a few Registered Dietitian-approved menu items and tips. Take a look!

Duffy’s Tavern – Open for take-out Tuesday-Saturday from 4-8PM

Check out the menu HERE

*RD Pick:

  • Black Bean Burger – black bean burgers are lower in saturated fat and higher in soluble fiber than traditional beef burgers.
  • Tip: Opt for a house salad or vegetable du jour as your side to add an additional veggie boost to your meal!

HiWay Pizza – Open for curb-side pickup daily

*RD Pick:

  • Spinoccoli Pizza – vegetables are a great nutrient-dense pizza topping that can help keep you satisfied for longer.
  • Tip: Opt for whole wheat or crispy thin crust, light cheese, and fill ½ your plate with a side salad!

Otto’s Pub and Brewery – Open for take-out daily from 4-8PM

Check out the menu HERE

*RD Pick:

  • Soba Bowl with chicken: This meal is perfectly balanced with complex carbohydrates (buckwheat noodles), lean protein (chicken), healthy fats (cashews), and plenty of veggies (peppers, carrots, onions, snap peas)
  • Tip: Make it vegetarian-friendly by opting for tofu as your protein source!

Saint’s Cafe – Purchase your favorite coffee beans for your morning cup of joe online HERE

*RD Pick:

  • Saint’s Blend coffee – coffee is packed with powerful antioxidants and has been shown to have anti-inflammatory benefits.
  • Tip: Enjoy your coffee black, or opt for low-fat cow, almond, or soy milk instead of creamers with high fat and sugar content!

Subway – Open for pick-up or delivery daily

Check out the menu HERE

*RD Pick:

  • 6” Turkey breast on 9-grain wheat with unlimited vegetables – the lean protein and vegetables help give this sandwich the stick-to-your-ribs staying power that we all love.
  • Tip: Opt for mustard instead of mayonnaise to save yourself 100 calories and 11 grams of fat!

The Overlook Grill by Harrison’s – Open for take-out Thursday and Friday 4-5:30PM

Check out the menu HERE

*RD Pick:

  • Vineyard Chicken Dinner – roasted red potatoes are a great lower-fat alternative to French fries or chips.
  • Tip: Portion ½ a serving on your plate to start, then check your hunger level before grabbing more

We may be separated, but we are not alone. By supporting local businesses, we can come together to keep our community thriving. Even if getting take-out for one of your meals is not part of your plan, consider purchasing gift cards for future use or as a gift for others. As always, let us not forget to live a healthy and happy life as we support our community!
