Harrison’s Healthy Recipe of the Month: Roasted Butternut Squash Bisque
Kit Henshaw, co-owner and business manager of Harrison’s, is also a successful One on One client. She has begun adapting some of Chef Harrison’s recipes for publication. Roasted Butternut Squash Bisque For perfect fall flavors -- the mild sweetness of butternut squash is perfectly offset with savory garlic and vegetables. Using some local cream helps to make it rich and velvety – but minimizing cream and using vegetable stock and roasted garlic helps to keep the fats and calories down. This recipe has a lot of steps in it – and that’s what creates the complex and award-winning flavors. 1 large Butternut Squash (locally grown if possible) 4 cloves Garlic – medium size cloves 1 stick [...]

Why You Might Need Corrective Exercise
By The One on One Team Pain…we all experience it. However, it is not necessarily a bad thing. Pain can serve as a warning device that says, “If you keep doing this, this way, you are going to have problems!” Unfortunately,we often ignore these subtle hints and end up with bigger issues down the road. Chronic pain is usually the product of dysfunctional movement patterns performed over and over. While we may never be able to live completely pain free, we can be proactive in avoiding or alleviating unnecessary pain. This is the ultimate goal of corrective exercise. Corrective exercise is a progressive system of training geared towards correcting faulty movement patterns and weak links in the body’s kinetic chain. Through specific mobility, stability and [...]
CDT Editorial – “Partisanship doesn’t work; it’s time to get real”
The following is an editorial published in the Centre Daily Times on August 23. What are your thoughts? Politically and philosophically, I am about as conservative as they come. I believe strongly in my point of view, as do most of my liberal friends. The fact is that our country’s finances are a mess and we must look for solutions while we still have the ability to choose. We must not take this for granted; things could quite possibly get bad enough that we no longer have that freedom. Let’s not let more pain finally bring us together. Instead, let’s swallow our pride and forget about ideology. Let’s be proactive and look for real solutions. For me, the first step involves doing the unthinkable — [...]

Thanks for the motivation!
In our business, we hear every excuse in the book for not taking the time to exercise. By far, the most common is "no time." The reality is we all have time to do whatever we want to do. It is simply a matter of where our priorities lie. Today, I was on a roll with an important project that has a deadline looming. At 11:45, I started to think about skipping our Group Training class at Noon and getting this work done. It was then that I remembered what a couple of my fellow Group Training participants, Julie Grubb and Rod Fletcher have both said recently, that "you can't make not coming an option." That got me off my butt and to class. The workout [...]
